Under the Adult Use of Marijuana Act, the cannabis excise tax is set at 15% of gross receipts from licensed retail cannabis sales. Many local governments impose additional taxes on cannabis, ranging as high as 10% in some jurisdictions. Local governments often include these excise taxes in the definition of gross receipts when charging additional sales taxes of 7.25 – 10.5%. SB 512 would end this double or triple taxation on cannabis, delivering much-needed relief to what is currently an unfairly overtaxed industry. Please tell your lawmakers to support SB 512: Vote for SB 512 to end double taxation of cannabis in California! The Stonewall Uprising was considered to be a turning point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States. Pride Month honors those who were part of the most important gay rights protests and is a reminder that Pride can still fight for our rights. Memorials are held during this month for those members of the community who have been lost to hate crimes or HIV/AIDS. The purpose of this month is to recognize the impact that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals have had on history, both nationally and internationally. This Celebration is so important to so many in the community to get together and not be afraid to be who they are around each other. They have the freedom to express themselves how they want, and live how they choose, without judgement.
