The Green Cross (TGC) is a licensed, award-winning cannabis retailer at 4218 Mission Street, San Francisco, California.
Our History
TGC opened our doors in 2004, first in Noe Valley. Instantly we were known for our professional, member-centric operation style. TGC followed the mantra "members first," a mantra that has since been used by many other organizations entering the cannabis industry. TGC broke the mold in 2006 by temporarily morphing into a delivery service. On June 15, 2013, TGC finally opened our current storefront at 4218 Mission Street in the Excelsior District of San Francisco. It took over six years to find a location and get the storefront up and running, but with the support of our valued members and the neighboring community, we finally opened our doors. As of January 6, 2018, The Green Cross holds local and state licenses to sell cannabis for both medical and adult use. Today, after over 20 years, TGC still offers many strains, cannabis-infused edibles, and smoking alternatives with friendly service and low prices.
Our Values
Our top priority is to provide members with high-quality cannabis at the low prices they've come to expect from us. It is important to TGC to offer our members a comfortable and accessible place to come purchase cannabis and cannabis-infused products from professional and courteous staff.
TGC has become known as an exemplar in community and outreach services by offering member consulting and compassionate care services that go above and beyond traditional dispensary services, showing the importance of cannabis not only to our members, but to the community and the local government as well.
A primary goal of TGC is to promote social equity, including improving the social and economic conditions of our neighborhood, while providing living wages to residents of the surrounding area. At our storefront at 4218 Mission Street, we take pride in providing employment opportunities to talented individuals from diverse backgrounds, including many neighborhood residents. TGC participates in the SF Cannabis Equity Program, which seeks to support people harmed by the War On Drugs, including business owners and job candidates; our Equity Plan is published here.
Neighborhood safety is of the utmost importance to TGC. Our security personnel monitor the block during business hours, making sure members are respectful of the surrounding area. Loitering, double parking, littering, and smoking nearby are not permitted. Mobile personnel monitor the neighborhood during peak hours and respond to neighbor calls, enforcing our safety protocol and ensuring members are following our rules and local law. At our expense, TGC acquired the green zone parking spaces in front of our storefront, allowing members to park for a maximum of 10 minutes at a time. In addition, TGC offers special member parking at the lot across the street at 4249 Mission Street. Moreover, TGC has joined various neighborhood associations to help improve our local district.
TGC strives to be a valuable asset to the surrounding neighborhood and maintain a welcoming and safe environment for neighbors, local businesses, and members alike. It was a lengthy process to open our storefront, but we couldn't be more thrilled with the final product. We hope you will stop by and visit us soon.
