Here is the original text: Motion ordering submitted to the voters, at an election to be held on November 6, 2018, an Ordinance amending the Business and Tax Regulations Code to impose an additional gross receipts tax, starting January 1, 2020, on gross receipts from cannabis business activities, but exempting the first $500,000 of gross receipts and exempting retail sales of medicinal cannabis; said tax for 2020 to be set at a rate of 2%, which will increase in 2021 to between 2% and 5% depending on the type of cannabis business activity and amount of gross receipts, and which may be adjusted at any time within a range of 0% to 10% by Ordinance adopted by a two-thirds vote of the Board of Supervisors; and increasing the City’s appropriations limit by the amount collected under the new tax for four years from November 6, 2018. The Green Cross has many concerns about the negative impact this proposed legislation will have on cannabis businesses, medical cannabis patients, and adult use consumers. We encourage all concerned members to learn more about the Initiative Ordinance by reviewing the legislation text and legislative digest. We also recommend attending the upcoming Budget & Finance Subcommittee meeting on Thursday, July 19, held at City Hall, Room 250, starting at 10 am that day. Supervisors Cohen, Fewer and Stefani will be discussing this measure further and members of the public are able to make public comment. In addition, we highly recommend writing a letter of your own to the Board of Supervisors to address your concerns and make your voices heard. City College of San Francisco now offers a cannabis workshop series, "Curious About Cannabis?" This workshop was developed in response to public demand for more information and learning opportunities related to cannabis. The three-course series offers participants a curriculum that explores the rich history of the plant as it relates to healthcare, science, politics, and social justice. Registration and more information about the classes is available at ccsf.edu/cannabis. We encourage all interested members to register ASAP before spots fill up! Green Saturday, Black Sunday![]() Legal cannabis just had its wildest weekend ever, so we kept tabs on S.F. dispensaries as blowout sales trimmed their supply down to seeds and stems. Last Saturday was a historic, “Green Light Special” shopping day that stoners will remember fondly for years. Dispensary lines reached around the block as everything-must-go sales obliterated prices right before strict, new quality control guidelines went into effect on Sunday, July 1. The subcommittee unanimously agreed to continue both measures to its next meeting on July 19. Read more » The Green Cross featured in TelemundoThe Green Cross was recently featured in Telemundo.
