![]() Dear Green Cross Members, Friends & Family, It is with a heavy heart we announce the closure of The Green Cross Delivery Service. After 10+ years of serving San Francisco patients, we have, unfortunately, come to the difficult decision to close the doors to our delivery service on December 16, 2017. With stricter regulations and increased overhead costs, as well as a burgeoning market of non-permitted delivery services in the Bay Area, we are no longer in a position to compete with these businesses. Operating a delivery service is a very costly endeavor, and we have done so with very little profit for many years now. Please know that it saddens us greatly to come to this conclusion. We know this decision will impact our loyal customers significantly, and we truly apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. Please understand that this decision did not come easily. We are extremely grateful to all the amazing members who've stuck by us for the past ten years. It has been an honor and a privilege to offer this invaluable service to you. We are extremely proud to be San Francisco's first permitted delivery service, and rest assured, The Green Cross is not going anywhere! The Green Cross will continue to provide quality service at affordable prices through our storefront, located at 4218 Mission Street in San Francisco. As a thank you to our loyal patrons, we are extending our hours of operation! Starting January 5, 2018, The Green Cross Storefront will be open from 8 am to 10 pm daily! We are excited to announce that The Green Cross Storefront is extending its hours of operation starting January 5, 2018! We will now be open from 8 am to 10 pm daily. Thank you again for ten incredible years! Your support and patronage has meant the world to us. Please come by The Green Cross storefront soon and visit us. We love you!

Doctor's Recommendations and State Cards in 2018![]() Come January 2018, patients may still need a doctor's recommendation and/or a state-issued Medical Marijuana ID Card (MMIC) in order to access our services. We do not currently know when medical cannabis dispensaries will be able to sell cannabis for adult use in San Francisco. The State is currently working to finalize the Medicinal and Adult Use Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act regulations and is scheduled to release emergency regulations soon. San Francisco is working aggressively on framework for the city's medical cannabis and adult use program, and hopes to allow medical cannabis dispensaries to sell medical and adult use cannabis in January 2018. All patients with a valid Medical Marijuana ID Card issued by their County Department of Public Health are exempt from paying the 8.5% sales and use tax, per Proposition 64. Our state has never required patients to hold a state MMIC and you will not be required to obtain one. Patients with valid and up-to-date physician recommendations will continue to have access to the high quality medication and service you've come to expect from The Green Cross. Without the MMIC, however, patients will continue to be charged sales and use taxes. Dispensaries will be required to pay excise taxes on all cannabis sales starting January 1. While this tax liability falls on retailers, cannabis patients should expect increases in cannabis and cannabis product pricing in 2018 to help cover these additional costs. We understand the economy is tight and every penny counts! That being said, we want to be sure you know about opportunities to save money in 2018. The average cost of a MMIC is about $120.00. For patients who spend $100 or more per month, the tax savings on the MMIC are financially advantageous. However, for patients who spend less than $100 per month, there is no financial incentive to obtain the MMIC. Please note that the MMIC is different than the card issued by your doctor's office. To obtain the MMIC you will need to visit your county Department of Public Health after you obtain a valid physician recommendation, fill out an application, pay the fee, and provide supporting documentation (recommendation and state ID). The Department will not keep any identifying information, and the only information transmitted to the state Medical Marijuana Program is your photo, your card type (e.g. patient or caregiver) and the expiration date of the card. This information is also contained on the MMIC. Each DPH office has slightly different procedures and fees. For information on procedures elsewhere, check out your county DPH website. Former SF Supervisors Unite to Promote Cannabis Industry in the City![]() Two former San Francisco supervisors have formed an unlikely alliance to intervene in the city’s cannabis debate, putting pressure on their successors to adopt policies that would promote the industry and accelerate permits to sell recreational marijuana in the city. State Sen. Scott Wiener, a dedicated moderate, and San Francisco Democratic Party Chairman David Campos, a committed progressive, both see cannabis as a unifying civil rights issue for the LGBTQ community they represent — a stance at odds with the more conservative residents of Chinatown and the west side, who have called for hard-line restrictions on marijuana sales. Read more » California Treasurer Wants the State to Study a Public Bank Option for Pot Businesses![]() California Treasurer John Chiang wants the state to consider creating a government-owned bank that could serve cannabis businesses, one of several recommendations aimed at helping bring those businesses into the financial mainstream. The recommendations, the product of a year of meetings of a cannabis working group organized by Chiang’s office, suggest there may be ways for California to help cannabis businesses pay their taxes and open bank accounts. But they also illustrate that the relationship between banks and marijuana companies will remain tenuous unless federal laws are changed. The board will next vote on the proposal Nov. 28. That means the earliest San Francisco could now allow outlets to begin selling recreational cannabis is Jan. 5, four days after it becomes legal statewide.
